About Elcar ""

Company History

Elcar was founded in 1946 by Bud Ellerby and William Carlyle. They had met in the Navy in World War II.

The partnership lasted until 1956 when Mr. Ellerby bought out Mr. Carlyle. For the first six years, Elcar specialized in chain-link (or wire) fencing. To this day, Elcar continues to use 11-gauge wire. At the time, there were no other companies that specialized in fencing.

Elcar has had office locations in Laramie and Cheyenne, Wyoming and  Ft. Collins, Lakewood, Englewood, and Denver, Colorado.

Elcar once worked on fencing in government microwave stations in many locations on the West Coast. The crew left Denver in June and returned in August. Elcar has worked on various projects from Canada to Mexico.

The location at I-25 and Belleview had a neon sign for many years which could be seen as motorists traveled north towards downtown Denver.

The Present

The second generation of Ellerby's now run the company. Alfred Ellerby has earned his position as leader of the company. Over his lifetime, he worked his way through the ranks. From labor and fence construction to various sales management positions, Alfred Ellerby’s current position is CEO.

Elcar Fence now carries out custom installations of high quality fencing. Elcar does not subcontract or use independent contract labor. One employee, Manuel Arguello who recently retired, worked at Elcar for 58 years.

Elcar Fence guarantees that the fence line will be within the property line as a company representative checks city records before initial ground breaking. This is a rare and desirable quality that could save the customers from making a costly mistake. For a minimal fee, we will look into any further concerns if it is thought to be necessary by you or your sales representative.
